Markha Valley Trek Itinerary – 9-Day Classic Ladakhi Trek Through Monasteries and High Passes
Day
1
Leh (3,500m) to Zingchen (3,400m) and Trek to Yurutse (3,550m)
Start the day with a 4-5 hours drive from Leh to Zingchen.
Begin trekking towards Yurutse, passing through the Hemis National Park known for its diverse flora and fauna.
Traverse the picturesque Rumbak village.
Camp overnight at Yurutse.

Yurutse (3,550m) to Skiu (3,350m)
Embark on a 6-7 hours trek to Skiu, crossing the Ganda La pass.
Enjoy breathtaking views of the Markha Valley.
Pass through beautiful landscapes and the charming Hemis Shukpachan village.
Camp overnight at Skiu.

Skiu (3,350m) to Markha (3,800m)
Trek for 6-7 hours towards Markha, crossing numerous streams and the Markha River.
Explore the Markha village and the historic Markha Monastery.

Markha (3,800m) to Thachungtse (4,050m)
Trek for 5-6 hours towards Thachungtse, passing through lush meadows.
Enjoy views of Kang Yatse, a prominent peak in the region.

Thachungtse (4,050m) to Nimaling (4,750m)
Trek for 3-4 hours to Nimaling, a high-altitude grazing area with stunning views.

Nimaling (4,750m) to Shang Sumdo (3,750m)
Trek for 7-8 hours towards Shang Sumdo, descending through beautiful landscapes.

Shang Sumdo (3,750m) to Hemis (3,600m) and Drive to Leh
Conclude the trek with a 2-3 hours trek to Hemis.
